Problem fixed: engine would go dead when you idled down and took out of forward to put it in reverse.
First I cleaned all three carbs, installed new pump up hose, and new inline filter. did not fix the problem. next I cleaned the fuel pump which was full of debris. I was told it was the inside of the old fuel line. Well in all of this I cranked it a couple of times and I think I burnt the water pump up. I have ordered a new one from you. When it gets in I will install it and put the boat back in the water to see if I have solved the problem.

Problem fixed: Did a carb clean, and put in the updated float valves. Symptoms was bogging down and dying engine before getting on plane.
Took the boat to the lake to test a new hydrofoil I made, hadn't run the enigine in a couple of years. It cranked right up. I backed away from the ramp and idled out, then tried to plane her off and the motor kept bogging down and dying. I never got it planed off and had to quit restarting the engine as I was about out of battery power. Of course I left the paddle in my other boat. With the wind driving me towards the bank away from the boat ramp I tossed out the anchor. I tried tossing the anchor as far as I could towards the ramp, and pulling the boat in that direction for a bit. Fortunately a guy I know in a pontoon saw me and towed me on in. Im hoping with clean carbs, new fuel lines/filter, and new plugs I'll be back in business. Should note I had fresh gas and borrowed the tank from my other boat, which I know was working fine, to do my test run. Boat carbs are pretty simple, so a good cleaning isn't that difficult. But you always need new gaskets, they never seem to come off clean. I decided to get the newer stainless, instead of rubber tipped float valves becasue ethanol. Once Crowley got me the carb kits and valves it might have taken me an hour to get most of the job done, I still have to install the carbs and try it out. My thanks to Crowley Marine for getting me headed in the right direction.

Problem fixed: Dry rotted gas lines & carburetor rebuilds
Doing my annual maintenance on my pontoon and motor. Easy rebuild of the 3 carbs and found that the gas lines between the carbs were getting dry rotted. Not bad that they lasted 16 years, so time to replace them all. Being that I was in no rush and no one to bother me, it took me about 6 hours to complete the job, as I look for other things while doing the work. Normally something like this takes me about 2 hours but I like to take my time and triple check my work. It's a very easy task and I learn more things every time I do this. BTW....one thing I do want to mention. The "gas lines" between the carbs and other gas lines you find all over the motor, is actually called "tubing " and you can't find it in any automotive parts store nor hardware store. Not even other marine parts store. Only Crowley Marine is the only store that carries the correct OEM "tubing". Hope this info helps others.
