Problem fixed: I snapped it off by accident installing the lower e
My attempt to quickly replace the impeller and get back on the water was quickly thwarted by my ham handed snapping of the plastic hose nipple. Removing the plastic from the hole was my next challenge. I managed to shove a flat screwdriver in and back it out. Couldn't find anything around locally to fit the metric threads and had to surf the interwebs out of desperation. I was happy to find Crowley after going down several rabbit holes. Their website rocks and the prices are the best I found.

Problem fixed: Gas in oil
During a boating trip my 2006 Yamaha 115 4 stroke quit. No alarms, no warning. Took it to a dealer and they said water in oil. No doubt and the engine was junk. The boat yard put a new 115 Mercury 4 stroke on my boat and I decided to take the Yamaha home to take apart and see why it failed. It was assumed that the adaptor plate corroded and water leaked into the oil pan. When I took the motor apart the was no corrosion anywhere. I questioned water in the oil and spoke to several outboard mechanics. One thought that gas could be leaking into the oil pan through the cylinders due to a faulty thermostat. I had a laboratory analyze the oil for water content. Gas in the oil was much more costly to determine. The lab result was no water so the only other source was gas. Bottom line, the boat yard mechanic totally missed diagnosed the problem resulting in a very costly new engine. It appears that a simple $60 thermostat and an oil change and filter would have solved the problem. I have received all the parts from Crowley Marine and I am now in the process of putting the Yamaha back together. When its completed I will follow up on the outcome.

Problem fixed: Engine quit peeing
Dropped the lower unit from engine (2) bolts on each side of the lower unit, and (2) bolts on the bottom side “hidden bolts” and the lower unit will come off with a little wiggling. After removing the lower unit I took the pump housing off (4) bolts and you have access to everything you need to replace. Pretty easy job, that can be done with minimal tools.
