Problem fixed: overheating on one side of cylinder block
one bank of 3 cylinders was overheating. Didn’t realize their were two thermostats ,one for each bank of cylinders. Removed the overheating side and it was in very bad shape and rusted closed. Replaced both thermostats since they were probably original with the motor (36 yrs old!). Haven’t been on the water yet as I am also rebuilding the water pump. I’m certain this will fix the problem.
