Problem fixed: Leaking water at poppet valve housing
Fired engine up for first time of the season and had water coming out of the weep hole, glad I made the repair of the poppet valve as the thermostat was full of salt and debris, if you replace the poppet get all of the related parts (diaphragm, spring, gasket, etc....), also while you are at it replace the thermostat, ran close to 20 miles after the repair with no issues.

Problem fixed: popoff valve leaking weephole
mercury makes two configurations of popoff valves for this motor it took longer to find the right part than it took to install it. Crowley has excellent parts blowups that show the parts and their relationship to the area of concern, replaced diaphragm and no more problem.
