Problem fixed: low oil sending unit stuck on creating alarm from control panel

The engine 2-stroke oil tank has a low oil sensor in the bottom of it and can't be replaced without replacing the whole tank. If you have a steady alarm going off but the oil is not low it is most likely the oil sending unit. You can check this by locating the 2 blue wires coming from the bottom of the oil tank and disconnecting them, you will most likely have to drop the lower cover to reach the connectors. If the alarm goes out when you disconnect them then the sensor is bad. You can test the continuity of the 2 wires from the sensor with a multi-meter, if the tank is full and there is continuity between the 2 wires the tank will have to be replaced. Replacement is all-in-all an easy repair, hardest part is dumping the oil out after the bolts for the tank have been removed!

There was problem with my order but it was not Crowley Marine's fault. Sadly enough Mercury Outboards have a very bad system for cataloging the parts for their motors "NO FAULT" to Crowleys. I was given a complete refund for the wrong part and a return shipping label. You cannot give any better service than that. GREAT Doing Business with Crowley Marine!

Problem fixed: Change unit inline fuel filter

There are two sized fuel filters for this model/type of engine, 3/8 and 5/16. But you do not know if you have not changed the filter before what size it is? Mercury factory part calls for a 5/16 filter, my motor had a 3/8. No fault to Crowley Marine they sent me the part called for by the Mercury Factory Part number. At this time I still do not have a part number for a 3/8 inch inline fuel filter, even after calling Mercury Customer Service.

Very good and the prices are better than any other place I looked.

Local service centers wouldn't touch it. To old. Was going to buy a new outboard, then figured I would tear into it, since mama didn't want a new motor, she wanted a new boat! Had a deteriorated leaking gas line. I broke the bottom barb fitting trying to remove the gas line.

Problem fixed: Broken tee that connects bleeder hoses together

Removed the broken tee from the end of the 3 bleeder hoses. Installed new tee. Installed new tie straps on the end of each hose.

Problem fixed: Four beeps every two minutes

Removed the oil resevior except the bottom hose until last - then drained the tank - next replaced the bottom hose and put about 2" of oil back in. Then lifted the tank up and down to remove any air. Attached tank back to motor and filled tank almost to top. Then started motor and let the system finished filling.
