The impeller on my 1973 Evinrude model 6302 S has shorter and beefier arms. Is the impeller shown in your description for part # 0434424 the exact figure, or a "reasonable facsimile thereof"? I believe mine is the original? Thank you for any help, Bill Jendruch archer@bex.net

Going off of your model, the correct one would be 0434424. That is a newer part number. The original number was 0277181

A great website full of information - also easy to negotiate. Quick delivery ( if you pick the correct option). However, some of the prices are astronomical compared to other sources and if you happen to live outside USA, then postage cost are crippling. How can a small rubber grommet costing £4 in UK, cost four times as much from USA including postage? Fact is, there are very few marine spare parts businesses in UK where everything is available like it is at Crowley Marine.

Problem fixed: Total refurb of everything the previous owner never did.

With the exception of the power head, everything else was dismantled, inspected, cleaned and replaced with either new parts (E.g. gearbox seals, grommets impeller etc). The upper, middle and lower units ( it’s a long shaft model) were all acceptable for condition and just required a lick of paint to bring back the freshness to the overall appearance. Crawley Marine had all the parts available but more importantly the schematic diagrams were sharp and showed clearly where all the parts went

Problem fixed: No water flow from exhaust.

Had 6hp Johnson that started good but no water flow from exhaust. Took lower unit off finding water pump was shot. Also missing a roll pin on shift linkage. Located the Crowley marine site on the Web. Found the parts I needed with in five minutes. Ordered on a Tuesday parts arrived Saturday morning, on the water by afternoon. Motor worked perfect. Thanks again. Jon

Problem fixed: have to replace and take apart the whole engine almost

i am taking pretty much everything except not the pistons and crankshaft. this motor has been setting up for a long time. i am still working on it to try and get it running.

I haven’t received my parts it’s been like 3 weeks.

Problem fixed: Blown power head, no compression, needs a new impeller, needs carburetor gone through.

Tore the engine down to the bare block, put it all back together with new gaskets and cleaning, changed impeller, rebuilt the carbs.

Problem fixed: No stream out of 'pee' hole

I bought a 1973 Smokercraft with a 6 horse Fisherman out board. The motor ran great, but just exhaust was coming out of the 'pee' hole. Three days later, with help from Crowley Marine, The old girl is peeing like a champ, and ready to go catch fish. Thanks

Problem fixed: water pump, fuel pump and carb

Still wont pump water but got her going after sitting for 20+ years. Great learning experience for a new boater. Still a work in progress to fix the issue with water. I know the impella is pumping water just not out of the outlet at the top of motor. Line is clear as i can attach hose and water comes out. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers mark

Overall my experience was good. I ordered a few parts off of the parts diagram for my 1965 6hp Johnson. However, one of the "part numbers" was for the pull start cord, so I ordered one of those as well. When my order arrived I found a completely useless 1 foot piece of start cord in a bag. I can only guess that the intention was to order this by the foot but that was not marked at all on the site and the fact that someone at Crowley actually cut a 12 inch piece and included it in my order is ridiculous.

Had only one complaint. Email it had shipped, but not really. By tracking it was not placed in USPS for two days. Other then that you have a wonderful system and I will order again soon as needed.

Problem fixed: Bad coil and old points, thermostate and Water pump kit.

The impeller I got did not fit. I think it is a later fix - different setup. I have had to get the kit that fits from another place. Nice to still be able to get parts.

Problem fixed: Blown exhaust gasket

Unscrew cover. Remove old gasket. Stop my hands from shaking. Carfully atempt to place new gasket untill it looked like good fit. Placed cover back on and screw it back on without demaging new gasket.

Problem fixed: Lower unit wouldn’t pump water.

Lower unit wouldn’t pump water while running, causing the engine to over heat. So i Dissembled the lower unit and replaced the impeller (current impeller was weather from sitting over time) reassembled the lower unit and tried it out but still no water pumping! Turns out it was the thermostat! Ordered through Crowley Marine (as I did with impeller) and it arrived quickly! And now my outboard motors works like new!

Found this little engine on side of the road, starter cover is missing, Engine had compression but no fire. Removed flywheel and all the ignition parts were rusted. Sandblasted all the parts just to see if engine would run. It did, very nicely too, Ordered water pump because of not knowing history of engine. Going to find a starter, replace the point and condenser and giver her a paint job.

Problem fixed: Head gasket and water pump

Pulled head off removed two broken bolts cleaned head surface installed gasket tighten head. Removed water pump impeller installed new one then tested motor then took to lake to fish with and make sure repair was good ran 5 hrs ready to sell motor

if you look in to it you will see that Johnson has a newer water pump that come out in the 90.s for the 70's 6 hp that is what I have in my Johnson there is a big water pump & a little water pump but you should know that you sell parts every day .
