Problem fixed: Loss of power and fuel.
Disconected battery terminals.. Removed engine top cover as well as the side cover. Removed starter removed hoses from carb, distribution header and electric primer/choke hoses. Removed hose, primer bulb, and clamps from fuel tank to motor and fuel pump. Removed fuel pump. Cleaned all surface areas where gaskets would come into contact when replacements started. Cleaned all bolts of dirt and old thread locker, ran tap I to bolt holes to lean internal threads. Installed new fuel pump replace fuel supply hose, and a new fuel filter to the fuel pump. Installed fuel line to a new brass distraution header, installed new hoses to carburetor and distrabution header, installed new hoses to electric primer / choke, reconectedand reinstalled starter, replaced throttle linkage bushings, and readjusted linkage to Johnson 50 horse specs, ballanced carbs. Reinstalled side cover and battery. Ables. Primed fuel pump with fuel hose primer bulb. Verified fuel bowl had fuel in it. Put water supply to engine water intake. Verified shift linkage at cancel was in nuetrel. Place key in egnition, pressed in to the prime/choke position and cranked engine several times. Engin started, warmed up, idol speed needed adjustment, shut off motor. Removed clamp that held throttle cabel to motor, and restarted engine, turned out throttle cable adjustment to bring idol into spec. Shut off motor. Disco ectedwater. With the new fuel pump and the other parts described, there's a much improved operation of the motor over all

The repair that I did was replacing all the throttle components beginning with the Throttle Cam Assembly and ending with the Link Assembly. It was an easy replacement and everything fit very well. It did improve the throttle response.

On doing an inspection and of the engine I noticed a little bit of a bush laying in the bottom of the housing which I realised It had come off the throttle shaft which also controls the advance mechanism by pushing the cam plate. I was told other supplies this throttle Roler was not available .

Idle was bad engine would die at idle. Cam rollers where worn down. Replaced. Haven't tried it yet. Going to go ahead and clean carbs through out winter. I'm sure that will fix it. Thanks Crowley.

Problem fixed: Cam & roller sleeve assembly for throttle was parished.
The old sleeve was so parished that it splitted in two parts, the outer and the inner. To exchange, a small o-ring that keeps the roller on the shaft should be pried off. In my case it broke due to age, be sure to have a spare o-ring. Then put on the new roller sleeve and fit the o-ring to the shaft.

A portion of part on engine deteriorated and engine would not run. I found out that it is hard to find someone that handles Evinrude parts. Had no problem with Crowley marine. Installed and now runs great.

Just a note . Don’t be discouraged if you can’t find your engine model number on the parts list. Some boat motors, like mine, are late production or have OEM options installed by the dealership after they get it. My motor is a late 1996 ( on the model number tag ) but in reality it’s a 1997. All together a different engine of the 1996. Match the motor diagrams with your engine, find the model number for that diagram and scribe it under your engine cowling for future reference. Makes for less confusion when ordering any parts in the future.

Problem fixed: Boat sat up for a long time with out being used
I had stopped using my boat for a long time because of my career and other interests. Outboard motors do not like that. The o-ring type gaskets behind the throttle body had become brittle and cracked and the carburators needed some deep cleaning and a couple of needle and seats and some o-rings. Crowley had all of the parts in stock for my needs. Shipping costs are very fair and parts show up fairly fast. I hope they send me a Crowly Marine ball cap to proudly wear when using my boat.
