Crowley Marine was excellent to deal with. They communicated clearly and often about the status of the order and even confirmed delivery. FedEx handled the shipment and even though I requested a specific delivery date as soon as the order was picked up, and they confirmed the new date, they ignored this request and delivered on another day.

Replaced fuel filter and plastic washers on gearcase screws while changing oil.

Other than slow shipping it is a good experience. I ordered two items that were in stock on the weekend. Order was not processed for shipping until Tuesday with shipping notice sent. Package not delivered to carrier until Wednesday causing package not to arrive until Saturday. This is the second consecutive order with the exact same delivery delay. With items in stock, I would hope the order could be packed and delivered to carrier the following delay eliminating 2-3 days of waiting.

Problem fixed: Motor was not running when purchased. Starter spring not returning, no spark from 1 coil and tilt mechanism not working.

Repaired exposed wires to stator, broken wires from coil, fuel pump repair/rebuild, carb overhaul, tilt mechanism repair, water pump overhaul and recoil starter repair. Difficult finding good parts drawings for this year, but the drawings on the site were enough to work through the problems.

Problem fixed: gas was spitting out of old filter

Just removed old gas filter. Made sure ports on new one were in right direction for hoses, 20 to 30 minutes and done and running.

Problem fixed: Reduced cooling water coming from the telltale.

I removed the lower unit and set this on the bench. I removed the old water pump entirely and replaced it with the repair kit. There are no intructions with the kit (that really an OMC thing) but there are some very comprehensive videos for assembling the kit on YouTube but looking over the old pump also makes things pretty self-exploratory. Onve rhe new kit was installed, I reinstalled tje lower unit and tank tested the motor and voila - the new water pump is back to 100% again.

only issue I had was when I ordered my three parts they all showed to be in stock, however with 10 minutes of my order being placed I receive a email stating one part was going to have to be back ordered and all my parts would be delayed until the part came in from the manufacturer which could be 8 to 10days, which concerned me since I paid of 2day shipping. Long story short the parts where in stock and I got them within the timeframe I needed,it was just every confusing with the messages I receive, I would use the store again in the future.

Problem fixed: Replace water pump impeller

Replacement easy very easy I remover the lower foot, and then removed the water pump housing. Removed the impeller which was missing 3 of its 6 teeth, then removed the lower water pump housing plate and clean the seal material from it and the lower foot and the water pump housing. I then removed the water pump cup from the housing and replaced it with the new cup from the kit, also removed and replaced the drive shaft seal on top of the water pump housing. I then put the unit back together by put on the lower seal then the lower water pump housing plate the upper seal, then put the new impeller and it’s keeper on the drive shaft and then greased the impeller and installed the water pump housing. I then reinstalled the lower foot to the power head,once completed I tested the engine and everything work great.

Problem fixed: Old engine 1980, left sitting for some time. Water pump impeller expected to be replaced.

Unfortunately I ordered the water pump repair kit before I pulled leg off. I found I have to order the pump housing because crack in housing. I should have known. Very similar crack on my previous 4.5 hp.

Just replacing the power pack and a couple of other small items..........went pretty smoothly.......will wait until spring to try it out.

note I was left waiting for a month because an item was not available the that order item was ordered as a precaution only & was not needed subsequently I should been notified & kepted waiting other wise I would & will remain a customer
