Problem fixed: Vro
VRO automatic oil portion of fuel pump had been bypassed and fuel oil was being premixed when motor was rebuilt 7yrs ago . I wanted to simplify fuel system when I went to see about replacing vro fuel diaphragm I found it to be less expensive to rebuild a original fuel pump for premixed fuel than the vro so I purchased a new johnson fuel pump and removed vro combination fuel/oil pump . Using the original vro bracket I simple used a scrap piece of metal penciled traced outer edge of vro bracket to trim to fit .I them penciled the 3 original mounting screw holes drilled and used original screws to mount .using the original vro fuel in/out/vacuum hoses as motor had only been ran 4 times in 7yrs per my friend who gave me the boat, I hooked them to the new fuel pump all 3 were 5/16" the barb on the new fuel pump for vaccum was loose so I cut a 3/8" long piece of thin wall vacumline from my mighty vac, slipped it over barb then pushed 5/16" fuel vacuum line over barb and the filler piece off my mighty vac it now is a nice tight fit worry free of a vacuum leak which would have caused a weak fuel pump. If you are holding the johnson pump in your hand looking at the frontside the 3 hoses from vro now hook up in this order : fuel in goes of barb in forefront, the fuel to carbs goes on barb on right and the vacum line from motor goes on the left. 1 last thing when you trace the 2 mounting holes to be drilled in the new fill piece you mounted to the vro original bracket favor it lower and to the outside of bracket so the new pump neither hits the bottom of starter and allows room to push vacum line to motor and needle nose pliers to slip spring clamp back on. Dry fit with hoses hooked to pump and bracket pushed up in place .hope this was a help.

Problem fixed: Fuel coming from fuel pump, motor not been used for 5 years so it needed a major service.
We originally found your site as we wanted to replace the tilt assist cylinder. We later found a local to re-gas & service the cylinder as they are only a strut it is now working great! Replaced fuel/oil pump, serviced carbi's, changed leg oil and replaced water pump. We now know we have a very reliable motor. Crowley Marine made it doable due to fantastic prices. Thanks
