Problem fixed: Water in lower unit oil
Watched several YouTube videos on replacing the prop shaft seals. Remove the top seal with a seal puller. Had to work the bottom seal out with a screwdriver and a pick. Once the old seals were out I cleaned the area thoroughly. Coded the edge of the seals with the gasket material from OMC. Placed seals back to back and tapped them down into the house and using a 1 inch PVC pipe. Hopefully this will solve my problem of water in the lower unit oil. I also ordered the top oil seals for the driveshaft, they should deliver in a few days.

Problem fixed: Vacuum leaks, blown head gasket, exhaust leaks, lower unit water leak.
Remove, starter, carburetor, fuel pump, coils, sparkplugs. Remove throttle and shift linkage, unhook hoses and grounds. Pull powerhead. Pull head, water jacket cover, exhaust cover; I broke a bolt ☹, remove, intake cover, intake manifold, Reed valves. Inspect bearings, crankshaft, pistons and rings; all in amazing good shape. 👍. Replace upper and lower oil seals and lower o ring. All gaskets clean to bare Shiney metal on all surfaces. At this point I had to repair the broken bolt, I broke off an extract tool inside it after drilling, had to weld a nut on to get it out. Had to jb weld repair the case and retap the hole. Then gasket seal when needed and replaced all gaskets. Then 4 oil seals on lower end 3 o rings and install chrome water pump. Now I'm working on new wiring and ignition.

Problem fixed: Lower unit was leaking out gear oil from behind the propeller
Old fishing line that gets thrown into the water instead of the trash can where it should be gets wrapped around the propeller and it will destroy the lower unit propeller seal every time I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I have had to replace these seals because of the old fishing line that has been left in the water.

Problem fixed: Water in gearbox
Replaced prop seals first, no fix. Ordered shaft seals under water pump and replaced pump while there. Only problem was lining up gear shifting rod during reinstallation of lower unit. That was tricky.

Problem fixed: had set a couple of years so I decided to check impeller lower unit oil had water in it.
Read repair manual. Drained lower unit & it had water in the oil. I disconnected the shift linkage below carb put in reverse first so when you put lower unit back on you can turn your prop to align drive shaft splines. Pulled apart impeller assembly & found impeller was junk. Ordered new housing & everything that was associated with it also ordered 2 seals for driveshaft they are located underneath impeller housing. Lube drive shaft splines &lube up plastic guides for water tubes & lube the grommets for water tubes on impeller housing. Have some body help you & slide unit back into place. Remember to lube impeller housing with light grease or oil. When installing impeller into housing with housing upside down turn impeller in a counter clockwise direction . Align key way on impeller & driveshaft when installing pump housing. tighten bolts & fill unit from the lower plug until it comes out top plug make sure lower unit is level connect shift linkage. When working on unit make sure the end of shift linkage does not turn so it won't be out of adjustment when you put into gear. FYI I'm a mechanic for 25+ years but this is the first time working on outboard engine.
