Wasn’t performing past 3000 RPMs took apart the fuel pump noticed the screen was full of wood chips more than halfway Bought a repair kit for a 1984 Johnson Ave. received it and somebody must have switched the fuel pump because the repair kit gaskets were shorter than the ones on my fuel pump so Luckily I had a gasket kit and made my own gasket and repaired the fuel pump with a new screen now I have to send back what I purchased

Problem fixed: Engine would not start
Once I determined that the issue was that the limiter on the engine had disengaged (slipped out of the rubber grommets holding it in place) I just needed to find replacement grommets. The Crowley Marine web site was easy to navigate and find the needed parts by looking at the parts diagram and then clicking the part needed to add to the cart. Shipping to Canada was not an issue and parts were received more quickly than estimated by Crowley Marine. I would order from Crowley again in the future.

Problem fixed: Exhaust gasket leak
In order to do the exhaust gasket we needed to pull crankcase out of lower cover. There are many steps to this and resulted in needing the gasket for fuel pump to block, exhaust gasket to lower unit, seal where water intake tube penetrates top of lower unit. Writing step by step would be lengthy and possibly incorrect so I'd just recommend watching some of the videos available on you tube and it's pretty straight forward.

Problem fixed: Engine would not idle
Engine would not idle. Removed the intake silencer and noticed that the plastic roller on the carburetor throttle had started to disintegrate from heat and old age. Ordered a new roller and carburetor top cover gasket, removed the top cover, installed the new roller, gasket, bolted the cover back on the carburetor, adjusted the roller to cam contact point. Started motor. Motor now idles and revs smoothly. I have three Johnson two stroke outboard motors. They are incredibly reliable and with a little routine maintenance they will perform day in and day out for many years. Thanks to vendors like Crowley Marine OEM parts are still available to keep these motors on the job.

Problem fixed: water pump, fuel pump and carb
Still wont pump water but got her going after sitting for 20+ years. Great learning experience for a new boater. Still a work in progress to fix the issue with water. I know the impella is pumping water just not out of the outlet at the top of motor. Line is clear as i can attach hose and water comes out. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers mark

Problem fixed: Fuel pump was not working.
Trying to operate the 47 year old outboard after 18 years of sitting. Replaced the plugs and still had difficulty keeping the engine running. The Crowley website was excellent in that the assembly diagrams are very clear and identify parts. I was able to order a genuine Evinrude fuel pump/filter assembly. Swapped out the old pump in 10 minutes. The engine now starts on the first pull. What a thrill to be able to putt around with the outboard I bought when I was 14.

Problem fixed: Spitting and Spluttering
Own a older Evinrude 6hp - 50th Anniversary Edition motor. It's tried and true. Last year it began to have issues with starting and maintaining power. It was taken to a shop and temporarily fixed but soon had same issue. I felt the issue was lack of fuel. Found the Crowley Marine website. Quickly located the hard to find diaphragm and mounting gaskets for the simple fuel pump which is mounted on the side of the cylinders. Crowley Marine promptly delivered parts. 15 minutes with a screwdriver and now the Evinrude is happy and purring like it should. Much thanks to Crowley Marine.

Problem fixed: Motor was not receiving sufficient fuel to keep it running
The performance of my Johnson 9.5 Hp outboard continued to deteriorate from an occasional stall to the point where it would only run for a minute or two after priming and starting. I suspected that the problem was a faulty fuel pump. After disassembling the old pump I realized doing a rebuild would be difficult and therefore elected to seek a full replacement. After searching online and thinking that perhaps I would not find a replacement, I was delighted to find that Crowley Marine still had the part! It arrived in good time and was easily installed in minutes. The motor now runs better than it has in years!

Problem fixed: Motor conks out at full throttle under load. Smokey.
I suspected a fuel problem from the start. Research available motors and cost. On the basis of weight (35 lbs) ad replacement costs, decide to ascertain whether motor is worth fixing. 1)I did a compression test to rule out the motor being too old and worn to be worthwhile repairing. It tested at 100 lbs + or - 10 % and from reading article on the internet and prior experience, I reckoned this to be good for a motor this age (43 years old). 2)I also checked the ignition. The points were fine and the coils tested OK. The condensors, however, were a bit suspect. They read out of range and had some leakage in each. 3) Decided to replace condensors and complete fuel system including reeds. a) I fish in a small boat in a large bay area and so need a reliable motor. b) 4) Searched for parts. Crowley Marine seemed to have consistently good prices. Bought fuel lines and clamps locally. Repaired fuel tank lines and replaced O ring at engine connector - damaged and worn. Also, engine fuel connection on motor worn. Replace. Important to have an air tight seal for vacuum system to work efficiently. Test. a) Motor still fails under load once heated up. - Condensors faulty? b) Check and clean water pump and replace impeller. Clean and polish all surfaces. Check gear case oil retainer. Replace driveshaft O ring and grommet on water feed. 5) Order fuel pump kit and rebuild and fit new screen etc. 6) Replace aging fuel line on motor. Order carburetor kit, Clean all passages and fit kit. 7) Check reeds. Clean and replace reed mounting plate and stops. 8) Remove flywheel and replace condensors and points. Set to .020" @ TDC. 9) Clean exhaust port and piston tops. Replace gaskets and torque up. 10) Check all gaps. Set Jets as per manual. Run at full speed and load to test. I haven't finished yet, but so long as I'm careful I hope and pray that the motor will give me some years of service. I am confident that she will. She sounds sweet when she is running which is one of the reasons why I thought she was worth the trouble. Also, most motors made today are much heavier. This was a big factor in deciding to push ahead and do a partial rebuild. I am an experienced electronics technician and also have experience in working on cars and motor cycles in my youth. Mind you, I do not consider this work difficult, just need to keep your wits about you. :)
