Preface
These kits provide a method of eliminating wire abrasion and possible subsequent damage to the ignition module on 1989 thru 1991 4 thru 55 HP Evinrude® and Johnson® outboards.

The installation of this kit requires the use of special service tools.
This kit should be installed by a trained service technician using current technical literature. These instructions are not intended for consumer use.

To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove spark plug leads from spark plugs.
Remove the flywheel and ignition components. Refer to the appropriate service manual, Section 3.

Remove any adhesive/sealant from the ignition plate. Install the pad, as shown, just before installing new ignition module.
After ignition module is installed:

Some models - Install the ring terminal in place of the flag terminal on the ground wire.

If not equipped with S.L.O.W. warning system - Place the protective cap on the tan wire's bullet connector.
