This kit adapts SAE style control cables to Binnacle Mount Remote Controls
for use on non-BRP products.
Step 1. Prepare for installation
1. Read all of the instructions before starting work. Check contents of kit to become familiar with parts.

*Items (3) thru (6) are supplied with the remote controls. The
additional parts included here are only required on a few applications of the
dual binnacle control.
Step 2. Determine Throttle Cable Location
1. Check motor to determine if throttle cable must PUSH or PULL to open the throttle.
2. For single control or the port control of a dual binnacle control:
- If cable must PUSH to OPEN throttle - use FRONT mounting slot (A).
- If cable must PULL to OPEN throttle - use REAR mounting slot (B).
3. For the starboard control of a dual binnacle control:
- If cable must PULL to OPEN throttle - use FRONT mounting slot (C).
- If cable must PUSH to OPEN throttle - use REAR mounting slot (D).
4. Determine correct anchor point and throttle lever, and mark these points
on your control.
Step 3. Install Adapters
1. Install cable trunnion adapters (1) onto cables. Install nuts (E), and turn cable end adapters (2) onto cables until bottomed on threads. Tighten nuts against cable end adapters.
Step 4. Install Throttle Cable
1. Move control handle to NEUTRAL. Install trunnion anchor (3) for the throttle cable, supplied with remove control, into the correct lower mounting slot (A) or (B) of the control housing.
Note: The UPPER mounting slots (C) and (D) are for remote control cables ONLY.
2. Install throttle cable into trunnion anchor with solid end (E) of the trunnion adapter at the center (F) of the trunnion anchor, and turn anchor 1/4 turn to hold cable in place. The solid end of the trunnion adapter MUST be to the INSIDE, or the adapter could disconnect from the cable and operator would not be able to control the throttle.
3. Pull or push cable up or down to end of its travel to see if cable travel is sufficient to position cable end adapter in line with (or beyond) the throttle lever.
- The throttle cable may be at the end of its travel with the control in
neutral, but the cable must not be jammed against the end of its travel.
- Move control handle to wide open throttle (W.O.T.) and push or pull cable to other end of travel. Cable must have more travel than the throttle lever travel so cable will not be jammed at W.O.T.
4. Move control handle so throttle lever is UP (position where control PULLS cable), if throttle lever is not already up. Position cable-end adapter on handle side of throttle lever and install cable pin (A) from throttle lever side. Insert cotter pin (B) through cable pin and secure by spreading ends of cotter pin.
5. Install anchor bracket (4) onto cable trunnion adapter and trunnion anchor. Secure with screw (5) and lock nut (6). Tighten screw securely.
Step 5. Install Shift Cable
1. Check motor to see which way cable must move to shift motor to forward gear. Check motor manufacturer information to determine required shift stoke.
2. The binnacle controls have two holes in each shift lever with the following shift strokes:
- Inner Hole - 1.45 in. Neutral-to-Forward Shift Stroke
- Inner Hole - 1.45 in. Neutral-to-Reverse Shift Stroke
- Outer Hole - 1.55 in. Neutral-to-Forward Shift Stroke
- Outer Hole - 1.55 in Neutral-to-Reverse Shift Stoke
3. For a single control AND for both port and starboard controls of a dual binnacle control:
- If cable must PULL for FORWARD Gear - use REAR mounting slot (A).
- If cable must PUSH for FORWARD Gear - use FRONT mounting slot (B).
4. Determine correct shift lever and anchor point on control, and mark these points on your control.
5. Install shift cable anchor (3), supplied with remote control, in one of the lower mounting slots (C).
6. Install shift cable into trunnion anchor with solid end (A) of trunnion adapter at the center (B) of trunnion anchor, and turn anchor 1/4 turn to hold cable in place. The solid end of trunnion adapter MUST be the INSIDE, or adapter could disconnect from cable and operator would not be able to shift motor.
7. Install anchor bracket (4), supplied with remote control, onto cable trunnion and anchor. Secure with screw (5) and locking nut (6) supplied with control. Tighten screw securely.
8. Position cable-end adapter (2) on handle side of shift lever, aligned with correct hole.
9. Install cable pin (C) from handle side. Insert cotter pin (D) through cable pin and secure by spreading cotter pin ends.
