Problem fixed: Gear lift lever under the power head on these motors was much metal rubbish and is always broken
The little arm that links the gearchange lever to the vertical rod for the gears was made of pot metal and is less than one tenth of the strength it should have been. As these parts were exhausted years ago, I now have to hand make stainless steel relicas which will last for many many years. For the moment I can still get from Crowley the gaskets required but fore see the day when I will have to make them by hand as well. The other useless item on these motors is the mixture control arm on the side of the carburettor. The plastic used for the arm crumbles like icing from a cake. These I have not been able to replicate in metal YET!!!!!
