Problem fixed: water in lower unit, no reverse

used crowley engine expanded parts pics to find parts seals etc thank you crowley for that feature took lower unit apart to replace impeller and replace seals found the last guy who had leg apart had the green rev wire pinched under the shift sol cover so it eventually shorted out the rev solenoid - repair wire and gone fishing

It was a bit slow thanks to covid and Christmas but service was great overall.

Problem fixed: Water ingress, so Lower unit seals and bearings replacement and shaft repair

The difficulty was removing the seized-in prop shaft bearing housing because a previous owner had used epoxy or locktite to overcome a scored o-ring base, plus general corrosion from water ingress. This meant the housing could not be pulled out and had to be chiselled out in pieces. Once cleaned up the inside of the casing had to tig-weld the score in the o-ring seat and grind it back. Used the circlip to protect the circlip groove while welding the seat. The reverse gear teeth to the dog-slide had to be welded and reground to shape by hand using a dremel and the bush replaced, as did the dog-slide reverse teeth. A local engineering firm straightened and sleeved the propeller shaft and then reground it, as a new one was not available. Hopefully when it's fully reassembled to the motor it will last another 50 years. Crowley's exploded view parts diagrams were invaluable for this job as I could not get a manual for this electro-hydraulic shift version. I bought one that said it did but it didn't actually have my lower unit in it.
