Problem fixed: Total refurb of everything the previous owner never did.
With the exception of the power head, everything else was dismantled, inspected, cleaned and replaced with either new parts (E.g. gearbox seals, grommets impeller etc). The upper, middle and lower units ( it’s a long shaft model) were all acceptable for condition and just required a lick of paint to bring back the freshness to the overall appearance. Crawley Marine had all the parts available but more importantly the schematic diagrams were sharp and showed clearly where all the parts went

Problem fixed: Throttle would not work
Found the broken part on my motor, looked at the parts diagram and found part number and price. $12.50 and my motor was running fine again. I called a marina and they had more than a two week wait for service with a $125/hr labor charge.

Problem fixed: Removed lower unit and had to pull the powerhead at the same time.
when I pulled the powerhead off I found that the upper seal gaskets had failed. I replaced it and machined out a new seal plate. Once reassembled it works without any leakage. Since I had the powerhead off I pulled the lower unit and checked the pump impeller as well as pressure testing the gear housing. All was good. Surprising considering the age of the motor.

Problem fixed: Rebuilt carburetor & recoil starter. Replace fuel pump & filter unit. Replaced throttle cam.
Accomplished all necessary repairs using replacement parts ordered from Crowley Marine. I have been using this wonderful ole trolling motor for over 48 years now. It has done me no wrong. The last fishing trip it began to act up. I was on a 2 week fishing trip to Montana so a little JB weld got me through the trip. It was time to finally do a little repair work on the old gal. I rebuilt the carburetor and the recoil starter spring and upper unit. The fuel pump was leaking- JB Weld closed it up until I could replace with a new unit. The throttle cam was worn to the point it wasn’t allowing full throttle. A new cam fixed the problem. All parts were ordered from Crowley Marine. Getting old replacement parts is becoming harder and harder to find. Crowley Marine really helps in locating necessary replacement components.

Problem fixed: Wouldnt stay running, wouldnt idle
I cleaned out carb, and installed a carb kit. Also replaced the fuel pump. Now my 6 hp is back to idling at low speed and fuel pump keeps up with demand. My only gripe is new fuel pump does not come with a new gasket.

Problem fixed: pinion gear teeth worn off
Could not find instructions that clearly told me how to replace the pinion gear. Took parts to marina and let them do it. It was expensive but did not want to risk damaging the spring mechanism as that part is hard to find.
