New order & order items status logic

We have had some feedback about wrong or misleading status showing on orders and ordered items, in order to address this feedback we have rewritten our dedicated logic from scratch. Besides the new logic, we have also made changes to status tags.

We carefully studied all steps that parts go through from the manufacturer to our warehouse to your door and based on those studies we rethought our approach to product status detection.

Although we stock many parts in our inventory, sometimes we do have to order some parts directly from the manufacturer, we have updated the status of the parts to display this, as well as packed and shipped statuses.

Below are the updated status tags

  • Waiting on manufacturer - part is ordered from the manufacturer
  • Pending and Awaiting shipment - order is being processed
  • Shipped - order has been shipped
  • En route - order is on its way
  • Delivered - order has been delivered
  • Delivery exception - something went wrong with the delivery

Recently we have added the ability to request order cancellation right from Order History and individual order pages. The status of these requests are as follows

  • Cancellation requested - a request to cancel the order has been sent
  • Cancelled - order has been canceled

The overall order status logic was also reworked spending time modeling possible configuration of items status combination to show the most accurate and informative status.
